Great effort from our members today setting up nest tubes. We really appreciate the effort that goes into the conservation side of the sport. With any luck we will have just as much success with these tubes as last year.

Can't beat a wildfowlers view. Crisp mornings, stunning sunrises and sunsets are some of the reasons we hope we are still doing this sport until our bodies can't keep up with our young minds. Then we hope we have taught our children well enough to take over and drag us along.

Do you brave it when the temperatures drop and it starts to freeze over? I'm one of the crazy ones who is out there breaking the ice and creating my own little pocket of water to decoy on. Hopefully after we are done a few birds get a good feed before it freezes back over.

Just an appreciation post for our furry friends who love the sport as much as we do. Also another great reason to join our lovely club (great excuse to get a pup). Great sense of achievement working in unison with your pup and seeing them loving every minute of it. On the other hand having them look at you thinking "is he going to hit one today. Thats 5 you have missed".

Loads of knowledge of training in the club so if your thinking about joining and going that route you will have a load of advice and help.

Almost that time of year where we come together and install nesting tubes. Doing our bit for the conservation of the various species we have all grown to love. A bit of statistics from the basc site on the scheme below.

"In the first two years of the project (2021-22), we have received data on 400 nest tubes across 93 sites in the UK, detailing some promising results.

To date, we have recorded an occupancy rate of 46% overall, and of those occupied, over 90% hatched successfully."

Gives you a sense of accomplishment when you come back to a nest tube you installed and see it occupied. Then later on you come to the wash and there is a long line of ducklings following they parents around.
